Xylanaest purum is a medicine that causes local numbing (what is known as a local anaesthetic).
It is given to you immediately before an operation near the site that is about to be operated upon. It will cause a loss of feeling and “numbness” at this site and switch off the pain.
Xylanaest purum is in principle only used by a doctor for local and regional nerve blocks (local and regional anaesthesia).
