Ulsal film-coated tablets contain the active substance ranitidine (a histamine H2 receptor antagonist), which prevents the action of the body’s own histamine on the mucous membrane of the stomach. In this way ranitidine prevents the production and release of gastric acid by the mucous membrane of the stomach and thereby reduces the total acid content inside the stomach.
In many conditions of the gullet, stomach and duodenum, excessive acidification is an important reason for the development of the disease. This excessive acidification can be prevented by ranitidine. As a result of the decrease in acid produced by Ulsal, there is a reduction in pain and even complete freedom from symptoms. This allows the damage to the mucous membrane to heal.
